5 Grounding ?’s to Stop Post-Thanksgiving Guilt

If you want to stop the post-Thanksgiving guilt spiral, ask yourself these 5 grounding questions.

If you woke up today feeling guilty about yesterday… slow down and take a breath.

One holiday meal didn’t “undo” anything.

Your body didn’t suddenly change overnight.

And you don’t need to “make up for it” today.

Restriction is what turns one holiday meal into a week-long spiral.

Regular, consistent eating is what brings your body back into regulation.

If you need some grounding today, go through these 5 questions:

1. Am I biologically hungry right now?

Not “should I be hungry?”

Not “did I eat too much yesterday?”

If you’re hungry — eat. Your body still needs fuel, no matter what yesterday looked like.

If you aren’t hungry - go on to the next question.

2. What emotion am I actually feeling about yesterday?

Guilt? Anxiety? Shame? Fear of weight gain?

Naming it separates the feeling from the food.

3. Where did that feeling come from?

A food rule you grew up with?

A comment someone made?

Old diet-culture beliefs about “being good” the day after a holiday?

4. What do I need right now — not what the guilt is telling me to do?

Rest?

Hydration?

A normal meal?

Reassurance?

Space from body comments?

5. Who can I ask for support so I stay out of restriction today?

This is your “Would you please…?” question:

Would you please watch the baby so I can eat breakfast?

Would you please not make diet jokes today?

Would you please talk me out of skipping lunch?

You deserve nourishment today — not punishment. Choose nourishment.
